Jackson- August 2012 letter
Dear Jackson-
We are getting down to the wire on the three year old letters, only one more month and then you will be four! Time flies. This year (in just two weeks) you start pre-school three days per week. We are going to meet your teach Ms. Carolyn this afternoon, you seem to be excited about going back to school and seeing your friends. You have had a good month full of new adventures. One big achievement is that you are truly potty trained! Great Job Jackson! You love to go potty and sometimes you race your brother to the bathroom- last night we had a BBQ outside and you ran in the house to go potty- no big deal, until you yelled out the window for everyone to hear that you just went potty- it was very cute! When you have a chance, you also like to go potty outside, Sometimes I have to stop you from doing that (i.e. when we were at storyland and you just decided to go...)don't worry, we got you inside to a proper bathroom.
The biggest adventure we had this month was our vacation. Before driving up to NH we went to the Kilday family Reunion- you and Shane were the hits of the party- you were flirting with the older girls and wanted them to chase you and play with you all day- you found your buzz light year toy in the basement and brought that with you and had a grand old time. Vacation was wonderful. We spent a lot of time at the beach- you liked the water but I think you liked building sand castles more...your favorite thing to do in the water was to stick your feet up (while you went under) and then ask "what color are my flippers?"- must be something you learned with Trish, but it is cute none the less. You and Nana liked to wave at the train every single time it went by and it was wonderful to watch you spend so much time with Nana. We visited Clark's trading post- you were not such a fan of the water bumper boats- You and I went on a boat together and after about 5 minutes, you wanted to get off- I think it was because you were getting so wet? We rode the train and you loved yelling to wolfman as we rode through the forest. You also got your face painted three times last week- once as batman and twice as spiderman! You looked amazing!!!!!! We also visited Story land and Santa's Village. You are quite taken with Batman these days - in fact we just got you some batman sheets and a bat man costume for Halloween. I'm glad that you are into batman but I can't believe that you are no longer into Elmo! You are getting so big!
You have become a wonderful little boy Jackson and very inquisitive as well. The other day you asked my why the sky was blue, you like to ask questions about everything! Why is one of your favorite words and you also really like to look for the moon at night and then the sun in the morning. When you wake up (usually in my bed) you stand up and say Mommy Mommy- the sun is peeping through the trees.... and then on the way down stairs you play with your shadow- you are really into your shadow these days, sometimes I'll catch you in the kitchen playing with your shadow- it is fun to watch. At night, you have to find the moon before you go to bed.
Shaved head and all Jackson you are an adorable little guy. I love you with all of my heart, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars, that means you are everything to mommy.
Love-
Mommy

Shane letter, August 2012
Dear Shane-
We have had a great summer together, and I can honestly say together! Mommy was home for most of the summer and we had a blast. I am now back at work full time and I miss you terribly, seeing you for a few minutes in the morning and few hours in the evening don't seem to be enough. Daddy shaved your head this summer and your hair is just starting to grow back. Daddy loved the haircuts, mommy not so much. Shane, you are starting to come into your own more and more every day. While you and Jackson remain joined at the hip you are starting to do more thinking for yourself and doing more independent things. For example, last night you found a red purse of mine and decided that you wanted to cut up pieces of paper to put inside it- you carried that thing around with you all night and then in the morning you were also looking for it. Daddy came home the other night and you asked him without being provoked- Daddy What did you get for the grill tonight? It was so cute!!!!!
You my dear Shane are now fully potty trained!!!!! Yeah! We are all so excited, you are doing a great job with that and haven't had an accident in weeks. It is wonderful, we can send you off to pre-school without having to worry about the potty! You are also very proud of yourself and you tell me all of the time when you have to go potty and what exactly you did on the potty- kind of silly but cute none the less.
We went on vacation last week to N.H. and you had a great time. We went up to NH late so that we could attend the Kilday family reunion. It rained out but you and Jackson had a great time with Susan's kids and playing with the barn and balls in the rain- you were the hit of the party! You have done a great job with the swimming and you swim under water, do flips, try to do handstands etc. In fact, two weeks ago when we were at the pool someone asked me where you learned to swim b/c you were doing such a great job! Vacation was lots of fun. We went to the beach a lot and of course you went swimming every day we were at the beach. You liked to start "collections" mostly of rocks, you collected them from the beach and in the water and had a fun time showing Nana your collections. We stayed at South Down Shores and the hobo train from the Weirs goes by so we could wave hello to the train a few times per day. As for adventures....we had lots of them. We visited Clark's Trading post and saw the circus, the trained bears and you and daddy had a crazy time on the water spray bumper boats- you loved it! and didn't want to get out of the boat. We rode the train and saw wolfman, you got your picture taken as a pirate with a pot of gold next to you and we had a great time. We also visited Story land - you got your face painted like spider man and then we drove up farther North to Santa's Village one day. It was a great vacation and Daddy and I loved spending so much time with you.
This weekend is another long weekend- Labor Day is on Monday so we will have another day with you again:-).
Shane, i can't believe that you are almost four years old! You are very into Spider man at the moment and I just got you some spider man sheets and a spider man costume for Halloween. Even though you are going to be four years old you are still my little dolly! You like your snuggle time and some times you come over to me and ask for a snuggle- Shane you can always have a snuggle. I love you Shane Kilday- you are Mommy's sun, moon and stars- that means you are everything to mommy.
Love always-

What's for dinner
The other day we talked about having a BBQ. Yesterday daddy came home from work with a grocery bag and Shane yelled- What did you get for the grill daddy? Turns out daddy did get food for the grill- nice juicy hamburgers and hot dogs.

Vacation in NH
We ventured up to the Lakes Region again for a weeks vacation and have had a wonderful time so far! Both Shane and Jackson are like fish in the lake- Shane especially has spent endless hours in the lake with his goggles, building collections of rocks and doing tricks and swimming.
We visited Weirs Beach and rode the train- it went right by our beach at South Down Shores which was fun and the boys each got a hobo lunch on a stick :-) They loved the video games and of course there were bumper cars- Shane Loved them and Jackson preferred to sit that one out and ride the merry go round in stead. We also had the opportunity to visit a civil war camp for a re-enactment weekend which was interesting, the boys loved to see the horses and the tents.
We spent some time in the car driving to different places, Story Land- the highlight was the face painting- we were there are all day and the only ride they wanted to go on was the train ride, but we did take in a great circus act and played for over an hour in the ball lab that they have there.
Today we drove to Clark's trading post- the boys had their antique photos taken, we rode the water bumper boats, saw the bear show, daddy climbed the rock wall and it was great fun! Tomorrow we are adventuring even farther North to Santa's Village!
