Dinner

Shane was whining (what is new) and he wouldn't stop.
Jackson said in a polite matter of fact way - Shane Stop whining, we don't want to hear you any more.

Karate Week 2= SUCCESSS

Well we made it through a Karate Lesson with no tears (Thanks to Trish mostly). Trish took the boys to Karate and got them dressed and told them that it would be fun and then left the room. Daddy picked them up and they had a great time. Trish has the magic touch! When they got home they told me that they didn't break any wood, they didn't get any stripes on their belt but Shane showed me his stance and some hand moves!!!! Hopefully we can repeat this next week! Thank you Trish!!

Jackson solo time

Last night we had the pleasure of experiencing what it would be like to only have one child. Maybe not the pleasure but the experience. Yesterday was the first nice spring day we had and the boys played outside all afternoon after school; they rhode their scooters (Jackson fell and really scraped his knees), played in the sandbox, built things with the structures in the yard... they had a blast.

We talked to Auntie for a little while on the telephone and then there was silence, too much silence. So I went up stairs to see what was going on and I found Shane asleep in the hallway and Jackson in the bedroom playing. I tried to wake Shane up but had no luck, so the only thing I could do was get him onto his bed, it was 5:30. Shane went to sleep at 5:30 last night and it was just Mommy and Jackson for a while until Daddy came home at 6:30. When Daddy came home we made videos with Mommy's phone and we played and played and experienced what parenting one child must be like- it was very calm, very calm in deed!!!! Even going to bed was calm and not a hectic, crazy experience!

I'm sure those experiences will be very infrequent but they will stay embedded in my mind and if I can download the video to my computer I will upload it here to the blog. All my love Jackson and Shane!!!!

Easter and the Easter Egg Hunt

We ventured out to the town Easter Egg Hunt last weekend and it was an "Event".
There were hundreds of kids there and the field was covered with eggs! We found a spot behind the yellow rope and waited for the "hunt" to start. Both Shane and Jackson had their bags and Daddy instructed them to run to the back because that is where all of the eggs are! So when they said go, everyone (including daddy) took off. Mommy hung back because I figured this was a kid thing and the parents shouldn't participate. Well I was wrong. All of the parents went with the kids. I still stayed back until I saw Jackson fall face down into the mud and Shane and Daddy were no where to be seen.

Jackson was crying, I helped him up, and by this point he wanted nothing to do with the Easter Egg hunt but I encouraged him to look for some eggs but my bad b/c there weren't any left! Ouch! Thank goodness Daddy did go out to the field and pick up some eggs! So we put some eggs in Jack's bag and for a moment he is satisfied. Daddy stays with Jack and mommy goes to find Shane who is aimlessly walking around the field crying- when I got to him, he was with another mom- she thought he was lost when in fact he was crying because he didn't get enougth eggs! The crying continued for about 15 minutes. There was an 8 egg limit per child and some kids got 20+ eggs so their parents did make them share which was very nice so when it was all said and done each of our lovely children got about 5 eggs- thank goodness.

When the tears were done we played at the playground and saw the Easter bunny, visited with some friends from school and then headed home. It was a long hour! Mommy will post some photos this weekend.

Easter day was fun at Nana's- Uncles Adam and Dave were there and it was so nice out we played in the back yard with the new baseball gloves the Uncles gave them ! The Easter Bunny left an Easter egg hunt at Nana's house for them and they even got a trip to the play ground- it was a great day. The only down side was that we didn't face time with our cousins, but we will catch up with them at some point!

Karate

Well, Mommy signed both Jackson and Shane up for karate thinking that they would have fun and really enjoy it. Last night was the first class and boy was mommy wrong! We got off to a bad start with a fight over who would sit behind mommy in the car- Jackson of course was crying; then we wouldn't go in and Jackson layed down IN the parking lot saying he didn't want to go. So while Shane is afraid that Jackson is going to get hit by a car in the parking lot- we finally get everyone in side and what do they do? Start asking for snacks! So we go in the back door... and Mommy gets: I don't want to go, I want to go home and Jackson starts crying again.... we go and sit down since clearly there was no way that they were going to participate in the class. Jackson was so loud and distruptive the teacher asked us to leave! So finally he stops crying and they are both sitting on my lap for a while and then they start rolling on the floor like babies saying that they want to go home. It was mortifing- the other kids in the class were all 4 years old and participating nicely. this was music class all over again :-(  We'll see what happens next week and hopefully T-ball will be better than Karate!

Below are some pictures of the boys from school.
