Dec. 2013 Jackson Letter

Dear Jackson-
This is a quick and late note to say that I love you! You have been 5 years old for 2 months now and so far so good,. You are starting to ask a lot of questions, which is wonderful- asking questions about what words mean- it is great to interact with you about vocabulary and all sorts of fun things like that. This morning, (we are in the middle of a snow storm) you asked about snowflakes and the different shapes they make.

We had a great Christmas, Nana, Uncle Adam and Uncle Dave came over for dinner- or as you called it our "Feast" and we had visitors for our Feast. You and Shane made a wonderful sweet potato dish with Trish and we had a great "Feast". I think your favorite present that Santa left for you was the bumble bee transformer- you and Shane fight over it constantly but you are also good at sharing.

You have been a sleepy little guy these days and going right to sleep when we go upstairs and sleeping until about 7am! that is almost 12 hours of sleep, but when you wake up you are ready to PLAY! One day on snowball's walk at the park you and Shane found a "shelter"- this is at beaver brook reservation. And the Shelter soon became your secret hide out- you were yelling to people from the hide out and dragging sticks all around and just having a grand time! We have had a good few months and I love you more than you will ever know. Jackson Reid, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars.

All my love-
Mommy

Misc. Winter tales

The snow is here and the boys are ready for some snow making.

Jackson is connecting with some ghosts in the house- according to Shane you put your index finger on your temple and close your eyes and you can connect with the ghost.

The Elf is here and the boys are enjoying seeing him move every night.

Snowball still has a spicey tongue

Happy 5th Birthday Jackson Reid!

Dear Jackson-
Happy 5th Birthday Jackson Reid! I can't believe you are five years old and you are very proud of that fact! You had a great birthday celebration with 17 of your friends from school and around as well as the Red Power Ranger came and did a magic show and you even had a  pinata! It was a blast, at one point i think it got a little too loud for you and you went up stairs in your bedroom- but not to worry, your buddy Truman and I came up to find you and you came right back down to the party!

We had a busy fall, we saw the Circus and you wanted me to take pictures of everything at the Circus! We also went up to the Mountains for Thanksgiving again, we had a lovely time. We went for a sleigh ride in the snow, you tried to ski but that day you weren't up for it, instead you sat on the Mountain and didn't move an inch. You met Santa and sang Christmas Carols with him, we went swimming a lot! (and you didn't listen a bit to mommy when you were in the pool- you and Shane just kept jumping in the water again and again and again). We also toasted Marshmallows outside at the fire pit one night after dinner. It was a wonderful weekend and I'm so glad we were able to do that with you and Shane.

You are becoming very observant of things these days. This morning, you woke up and said "Oh mommy, look at the beautiful sunrise"! We decorated the Christmas tree last night and you were very excited about decorating! You put a giraffe on the top along with an orange star made out of Popsicle sticks on the top- you didn't want to put Santa up there like we do every year. And then this morning- the Elf was back and you were soooo excited to see Elfie- but you broke the rules (a little bit) and moved Elfie into the playroom - your rationale was so that Elfie could see you playing and being good boys.  Christmas is in two weeks and you can't wait. Yesterday you said to me, "Mommy what do you want for Christmas"? I said nothing, just you and your brother and daddy that's it. Well I know what i am going to get you Mommy- you said a big box of hugs and you jumped into my arms!

I love you Jackson Reid, you are Mommy's sun, moon and stars!
Love always-
Mommy

Happy 5th Birthday Shane (Belated)

Dear Shane-
You turned 5 years old back in October and this is the first time I am writing to you. You had a wonderful day with your friends and the Red Power Ranger who came to celebrate with you! We have had an eventful fall with your Birthday Celebration and then we went to the Mountains for Thanksgiving. You skied for the first time, we went on a sleigh ride in the snow! You sang Christmas Carols with Santa and of course we toasted marsh mellows and went swimming in the indoor pool! It was a great time.

You have such an affinity for music that we are thinking about enrolling you in a music class but you don't want to go without Jackson. Jackson on the other hand has no interest in the music. The other day Daddy had the radio going on his phone and you and Daddy rocked out! You got a sword and used it is a guitar and you were dancing all over the place and sliding on the floor- it was funny to watch.

The other morning when we got up you said Mommy come here. So I went over to you. And you were very serious- Snowball has spicy breath. I think I heard someone in the house last night walking up the stairs and they must have come and given snowball spicy greenies so his breath and kisses are spicy! While I don't think anyone broke into the house to get Snowball's greenies it was a very cute story and you were very serious and concerned about this!

We got our Christmas tree this weekend, Daddy had to get almost the biggest tree they had. And we decorated it last night and sang Christmas Carols- your favorite song was Rudolf and you wanted to sing it without interruption! We broke a few ornaments but with all of the excitement I guess that wasn't so bad: to break 3 ornaments.  You and your brother are very focused on Christmas and every morning wake up and ask if it is Christmas- we have 2 more weeks until the Big S. man comes to visit- and you are prepared. Your Christmas list is LONG and in some cases irrational but funny to read- you have things on there such as a rainbow laser beam with side arrows on there.

I love you Shane Kilday, you are Mommy's sun, moon and stars!
All my love-
Mommy

It's a twin thing

I don't think the boys realize how close they are to each other. Nana took them out for breakfast on Friday and told me this story: They were in a booth at Friendly's so there was plenty of room but they wanted to sit next to each other. Nana said, next thing you know they are on top of each other playing "Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwhich" which means that they were stuck to each other like Peanut butter & Jelly- they were on top of each other wiggling but not falling off from each other. I know it is not restaurant behaviour but it is still a cute story.
