Pushing

The boys were at the refrigerator waiting to get milk and Jackson was yelling Juice, No milk- he wanted to juice. So in his little rage he pushed Shane- it was a good hefty push. Shane didn't say anything but took a few steps back towards Jackson and then a few more steps as to say- Come on, I dare you to push me again -Shane was smiling. Jackson just kept yelling for juice. It was cute to watch Shane stick up for himself.

On Friday while Nana was babysitting Jackson pushed Shane again but this time he really hurt Shane and Shane was crying for mommy. Nana told Jackson to apologize to Shane and so he went over to Shane, rubbed his back and with his head tilted said: "I sorry Shane, I sorry Shane". Nana said it was adorable to watch.

Shane has started to give out random hugs- he just comes up to you and says hug and gives a big hug and a smile.

The GI bug comes to Payson Rd.

We have been lucky to date- Jackson and Shane have been very healthy! Well this weekend we got a double dose of the nasty bug that is going around. On Saturday we had an awesome visit with Great Grand Aunt Ru, the boys had lots of fun in the library at Bear Hill. But then Sunday hit and bam- the GI bug hit us.

Shane projectile vomited five times in the morning and both boys had diarrhea- yuck! Shane just wanted to be held all day and rest on your chest and Jackson was pretty quiet but liked all of the attention he was getting by whomever didn't have Shane. Bedtime was a bit crazy but we got through it.

Monday morning at 4:30 am I hear a knock at the door and a little voice calling mommy, mommy- it was Shane and clearly he was feeling better. He sat with us in bed for a few hours and then Jackson was knocking at the door. Both boys had a quite day and then tonight wasn't so quite- it was one of those nights that all you could do is laugh. We didn't want the boys to have milk b/c of their tummy issues but all they wanted was milk. So they woke up from their nap an hour early saying "My milk" repeatedly and they were crying. We dealt with that and then by the time we were ready to go upstairs they were back onto the milk kick. We washed hands and brushed our teeth and then started to get into PJs. No one was happy with their PJs and then the crying started again as we got our books out. We have lots of Elmo books but only one Elmo book is good at bed time and the boys fight over this book. Shane finally got the Elmo book and then we started crying about who would read the book to them. Jackson was doing something else so Mommy was "free" and Shane immediately ran over to mommy to jump on my lap. Then they started crying over mommy's lap b/c no one likes to share the lap at bedtime. It was a Crazy time with a capital C but one of those circumstances that all we could do was laugh because they were so cute. We love you Jackson and Shane, sleep tight!

Talking

Both boys are picking up more and more words.
Just this morning Shane put 3 words together! I like Jelly! That was in response to Nana's offering of a Jelly Doughnut. Jackson now calls me Mommy not mama.
Love you guys!

Going to bed

Most kids want a teddy bear or a favorite soft piece of fabric to take to bed with them. Not Jackson and not tonight- he wanted his peas, yes, he wanted to take to bed 3 cans of peas. He was VERY vocal about not being able to take the peas to bed. But all seems to be quite now, we will see where they are sleeping when I go into check on them.

Jackson 27 months

Dear Jackson-
You are 27 months old this month and you are getting stronger every day (stronger willed and physically stronger). You are becoming more independent and are starting to put two words together. Your favorite word is No but just the other day, you did say YES! I am very accustomed to hearing you say no, no for everything: Jackson do you want Elmo- No, Jackson do you want to eat? No....no, no, no is what you like to say but all of a sudden just last week more words are starting to come out of your little mouth! Some of the words you are saying include: light, come, up , Elmo, Cookie (for cookie monster); yesterday you said more bird for more Big Bird, you still like to take my hand and bring me to a special place- usually the chair in the playroom but now you say walk instead of come. You can piece together more and another word such as Bye.... you love to say "Bye Bye" while you are waving and walk into another room of the house, or when you are going to bed you say Bye Bye Mama.

Your temperament is also changing and you are getting more into the temper tantrum stage- you like to lie on the floor and cry and yell, as annoying as this can be I must say that it is cute to watch. You have taken a great liking to pushing your grocery cart around the house, playing kitchen and carrying your bag. You love to carry mommy's yellow out to lunch Smithsonian bag around the house and put all of your groceries in there. Groceries and your kitchen set remain a big favorite toy for you. In the toy context your favorite thing to say is "mine" and you say it while you are running to get a toy before Shane can get it.

You are getting very good with markers and have started to do more crafts with Trish during the week. Markers are definitely your favorite. Trish got you and Shane little shovels and you LOVE the snow. You have been outside shoveling and building things in the snow. Last night Daddy shoveled off the porch (because there was 4 feet of snow out there) and you and Shane wanted to help- you had on a hat and your favorite boots and stood there with the shovel saying "I shovel".

Jackson Reid, I love you so much and I know that these random letters don't do it justice or tell you exactly what you have been doing and how you are developing but they are something and my small way of trying to let you know what a special little boy you are. I love you Jackson Reid, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars. That means that you are everything to me.

All my love-
Mommy

Shane 27 months

Dear Shane-
You are 27 months old and oh how you have changed since you were born! You have gotten a lot taller and you no longer fit under the island in the kitchen, in fact, sometimes you bump your little head against it because you are running so fast you don't see it.

You are a smiley little boy and still loved to be held, especially when you wake up from sleeping. Speaking of sleeping- you like to sleep almost anywhere except in your bed! You love to crawl into a little corner of your room and fall asleep, with of course your snappies- my snappies, my snappies is what you say until you have found the correct pair of PJs with the snaps that you like! But don't worry, mommy comes in and moves you to your bed every night, that is when I can get into your bedroom. Sometimes you and Jackson fall asleep in front of the door and I can't get it open! Before you got to bed you are enjoying jumping on that bed of yours and when you jump you wiggle your little bottom, it is very cute to watch and you laugh hysterically in a high pitched but deep toddler laugh!

You like to play baby- which means you still like to be rocked like a little baby and be sung to. Sometimes you won't let mommy move until i pick you up- you stand in front of my legs until I pick you up. "Up, Up, Up " is what you say. Speaking of words, you are getting more words every day. You are very good with two syllable words such as apple, Elmo, Cookie (for cookie monster), Big Bird and what is cute is that you shake your head as you say the second syllable. You know when to say please and sometimes you even say thank you.

Sesame Street is the only show that you watch on television and you call it Elmo. You sit on the big couch with your little legs straight out and hands folded- your feet don't reach the edge of the couch- you are adorable to watch!

You like to carry an Orange Dunkin Doughnuts Trick or Treat bag around with you which contains all of your essentials- Elmo, milk and books.

You love your milk and toast! Every morning when you wake up (after knocking on the door to let me know that you are awake) you start asking for toast and milk. You say: "Milk....Toast? Milk toast? .... Some of your other favorite things to do are reading books and pulling all of the books off the shelf. You still find great entertainment in snowball and you like to go up to him and put your hands up like a lion and say "roar" in front of his face and then....you give him loves.

You are growing up so fast my little Shane! Apologies to you that this letter isn't better written, but it is something that we can look back on to remember these times together. I love you Shane Kilday.
Love-
Mommy
