We had an AMAZING time at the Mountains this past weekend!
After the 6 hours it took to get to NH from Belmont we finally arrived in the Mountains and at the hotel. Jackson was very talkative on the drive up and wanted to know every 5 minutes how much longer it would take to get there. It was a LONG trip due to the snow, freezing roads and poor conditions overall.
Daddy took the silver car up to the Mountains b/c with all of our luggage and Nana we would not fit into 1 vehicle. We had a great corner room with a fireplace and the boys could run down the LONG hallway to find Nana in room 230.
Thursday which was Turkey Day was lots of fun. We had breakfast and learned all about the dragons that live at the hotel! Thanksgiving dinner was a HUGE buffet so there was plenty of options for everyone. We went swimming in the indoor pool ( many times) and b/c there was fresh snow on the ground we went sledding many time! Daddy got some ski pants so we was nice and comfy out in the snow. We did so much stuff.... on Thanksgiving day we went for a horse drawn sleigh ride with Ralph the horse- it was cold but awesome!!!
One night mommy and daddy went to the Bretton Arms Inn for dinner to celebrate our 12 year anniversary and we had a window seat and it was like something out of a movie- Ralph the horse kept going by with the sleigh and you could hear his bells jingling!!!!! Every night the Big S. as the boys like to call him (Santa Claus) read stories by the fireplace and it was just wonderful.
On Saturday Shane and Jackson had Ski lessons and then we went Snow Dog Mushing!!!!!! We drove off the resort to a rescue dog shelter- Muddy Paws Rescue. There are 125 dogs there and they pull sleds just like you see in the movies. Daddy and Shane were in one sled- Shane got to drive!!! Mommy and Jackson were in another sled- our driver West- had only driven the dogs and sled once before so there was no driving for us. And Nana had her own sled- it was AMAZING!!! We got to help harness the dogs, feed the dogs and go for a ride. The set up there was very rustic but none the less, awesome!!!! I think it was the highlight of the trip.
Of course, no adventure to the Mt. Washington hotel would be complete without roasting marshmellows and making samores- so we did that a few times as well.
Pictures to follow. Happy Thanksgiving 2014- we have LOTS and LOTS to be thankful for this year!!!!!
