Shane July 28, 2012 Letter

Dear Shane,

You have had a great summer so far and I think you have had a lot of fun! Mommy had a change in her work schedule this year and I had 6 weeks off to play with you during the summer which was wonderful, we had so much fun, I am forever grateful for every second that I am able to be with you and your brother.

We have had many exciting road trips this summer and we haven't even gone on our vacation yet! Nana and I took you to Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom in Maine- there was a nice zoo which you enjoyed but you really loved the rides- especially the roller coaster (Jackson's favorite was the bumper boats) but you went on the roller coaster (and sat by yourself sometimes) 4 or 5 rides! and you laughed and smiled the entire time. We have been to the beach and to the pool many many times. You seem to really love the water this summer. You were very successful in swimming lessons and can jump into the pool by yourself and just like your brother, you love to wear your goggles. In fact, one summer hot day, you went to the grocery store wearing your goggles, rain boots and a fireman's jacket- you looked adorable!

You also love to ride your scooter and wear your helmet. In one of these photos you have your helmet on- we were down at the park and you wanted to wear it on the park equipment and kept it on for a snack and book break!

You still love your snappies- i think some time in the future you will give them up but for now there is no harm to you sleeping with them. Your imagination has really blossomed this summer and you think of new and creative things all of the time. Sometimes it has to do with the superheros you like to play or being a policeman or I don't know what else but you have a great imagination.

I love you Shane Kilday, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars that means you are everything to mommy.
Love-
Mommy

Jackson July 28 letter

Dear Jackson-
We have had a great summer thus far and you are more than half way to being four years old! Mommy can't believe it! I had some changes in my work situation so I have been home spending lots and lots of time with you which I will never forget or trade for anything! I have loved every minute of our time together, however, tomorrow I go back to work and we will be back to our regular schedule of morning and night time visits which makes me sad but that is our reality little guy.

You are growing up a lot these days and are very into how things work. You are especially interested in Shadows- what makes a shadow, what makes it move etc. As your pre-school teacher would say, you love to play imaginary games and "put our fires" something seems to be on fire in the house every day but don't worry- you put on your fire fighter outfit and put it out!

You and your brother have become very interested in super heros and everyone has to be batman. Your cousin Zach sent you a Batman back pack and you call it your batman "Pack back". Your other cute saying is you call anything yellow - banana. You have a lot of energy and I love that about you. We have taken a lot of day trips this summer so far, many of which have been with Nana- she loves you SOOOO much and has lots of fun  playing with you. Some of the places we visited included Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom in York Maine, the Franklin park zoo, drumlin farm (of course), Trish took you to the Southwick zoo, lots of visits to the pool and to the beach. We joined the town pool this year and have made great use of our membership.
You love to jump into the water, wear your goggles (even if you are not in the water) and swim for things. You were pretty successful in swimming lessons this year so i think we will enroll you into the group class for the fall since you love the water so much.

I'm going to post a bunch more photos up onto the blog today but Daddy took you and your brother our this morning and I hear you coming in the door so I best be going to see how your day was. I love you Jackson Reid, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars, that means you are everything to mommy.

Love always-
Mommy

weekend in text

Let's try this again, I continue to get booted out of blogger, so we'll try writing this one more time and see if it sticks.

We had a weekend full of water activities- the spray park in Stoneham with Nana and then the Belmont Underwood pool on Sat. and Sunday. Saturday it was quite at the pool but on Sunday, I think the entire town was there- very busy. We got the boys each a pair of goggles and they love them! They wore them all day in the pool and then Shane even wore his (with his bumble bee rain boots) to the store. I'll post photos of them once I figure out how to download photos from my phone.

Tonight out of the blue- Shane said that he wanted to be Jackson with no further explanation.
Shane's name begins with S- they both call it the snake and that it is Shane's word- so anything that begins with S is Shane's word. And J- is Jackson's word but there aren't too many words that begin with J so we don't have that conversation too much.

Keith decided that the boys need to start doing more for themselves so we made some popcorn and he told them to each go and get their own and they did it successfully- mommy was imagining popcorn all over the kitchen floor but that was not the case.

Both Shane and Jackson now pick their ice cream based on the color. Shane likes green, Jackson likes strawberry (usually). Last night we got some ice cream and they both liked the orange sherbet color so that is what they chose. It reminded me of when their cousin Abby was little and we went someplace with Blue ice cream and her eye's lit up and she said, I want that!

Until tomorrow- when they start the creative explorer program at the boys and girls club- mommy and daddy are a little nervous- it is a drop of program and we don't know the counselors but keeping our fingers crossed for a good day!
