Misc. Winter tales

The snow is here and the boys are ready for some snow making.

Jackson is connecting with some ghosts in the house- according to Shane you put your index finger on your temple and close your eyes and you can connect with the ghost.

The Elf is here and the boys are enjoying seeing him move every night.

Snowball still has a spicey tongue

Happy 5th Birthday Jackson Reid!

Dear Jackson-
Happy 5th Birthday Jackson Reid! I can't believe you are five years old and you are very proud of that fact! You had a great birthday celebration with 17 of your friends from school and around as well as the Red Power Ranger came and did a magic show and you even had a  pinata! It was a blast, at one point i think it got a little too loud for you and you went up stairs in your bedroom- but not to worry, your buddy Truman and I came up to find you and you came right back down to the party!

We had a busy fall, we saw the Circus and you wanted me to take pictures of everything at the Circus! We also went up to the Mountains for Thanksgiving again, we had a lovely time. We went for a sleigh ride in the snow, you tried to ski but that day you weren't up for it, instead you sat on the Mountain and didn't move an inch. You met Santa and sang Christmas Carols with him, we went swimming a lot! (and you didn't listen a bit to mommy when you were in the pool- you and Shane just kept jumping in the water again and again and again). We also toasted Marshmallows outside at the fire pit one night after dinner. It was a wonderful weekend and I'm so glad we were able to do that with you and Shane.

You are becoming very observant of things these days. This morning, you woke up and said "Oh mommy, look at the beautiful sunrise"! We decorated the Christmas tree last night and you were very excited about decorating! You put a giraffe on the top along with an orange star made out of Popsicle sticks on the top- you didn't want to put Santa up there like we do every year. And then this morning- the Elf was back and you were soooo excited to see Elfie- but you broke the rules (a little bit) and moved Elfie into the playroom - your rationale was so that Elfie could see you playing and being good boys.  Christmas is in two weeks and you can't wait. Yesterday you said to me, "Mommy what do you want for Christmas"? I said nothing, just you and your brother and daddy that's it. Well I know what i am going to get you Mommy- you said a big box of hugs and you jumped into my arms!

I love you Jackson Reid, you are Mommy's sun, moon and stars!
Love always-
Mommy

Happy 5th Birthday Shane (Belated)

Dear Shane-
You turned 5 years old back in October and this is the first time I am writing to you. You had a wonderful day with your friends and the Red Power Ranger who came to celebrate with you! We have had an eventful fall with your Birthday Celebration and then we went to the Mountains for Thanksgiving. You skied for the first time, we went on a sleigh ride in the snow! You sang Christmas Carols with Santa and of course we toasted marsh mellows and went swimming in the indoor pool! It was a great time.

You have such an affinity for music that we are thinking about enrolling you in a music class but you don't want to go without Jackson. Jackson on the other hand has no interest in the music. The other day Daddy had the radio going on his phone and you and Daddy rocked out! You got a sword and used it is a guitar and you were dancing all over the place and sliding on the floor- it was funny to watch.

The other morning when we got up you said Mommy come here. So I went over to you. And you were very serious- Snowball has spicy breath. I think I heard someone in the house last night walking up the stairs and they must have come and given snowball spicy greenies so his breath and kisses are spicy! While I don't think anyone broke into the house to get Snowball's greenies it was a very cute story and you were very serious and concerned about this!

We got our Christmas tree this weekend, Daddy had to get almost the biggest tree they had. And we decorated it last night and sang Christmas Carols- your favorite song was Rudolf and you wanted to sing it without interruption! We broke a few ornaments but with all of the excitement I guess that wasn't so bad: to break 3 ornaments.  You and your brother are very focused on Christmas and every morning wake up and ask if it is Christmas- we have 2 more weeks until the Big S. man comes to visit- and you are prepared. Your Christmas list is LONG and in some cases irrational but funny to read- you have things on there such as a rainbow laser beam with side arrows on there.

I love you Shane Kilday, you are Mommy's sun, moon and stars!
All my love-
Mommy

It's a twin thing

I don't think the boys realize how close they are to each other. Nana took them out for breakfast on Friday and told me this story: They were in a booth at Friendly's so there was plenty of room but they wanted to sit next to each other. Nana said, next thing you know they are on top of each other playing "Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwhich" which means that they were stuck to each other like Peanut butter & Jelly- they were on top of each other wiggling but not falling off from each other. I know it is not restaurant behaviour but it is still a cute story.

Early Morning Meetings

Mommy usually has early morning meetings that start at 7am and I usually take them from home and then go into the office. Sometimes, I have coffee with my boys while they drink their juice in the morning before my meetings, we hang out and talk and such.
Well, with daylight savings creeping upon us quickly the mornings are still pretty dark. Today mommy had to leave the house at 6:30 for one of those early meetings IN the office. We have the following conversation:
Jackson: Mommy is it morning yet? It's still dark outside
Mommy: Yes, but it is very early, you should go back to bed
Jackson: What are YOU doing up mommy?
Mommy: I have to go to work early.
Jackson: But its still dark out mommy, you can't go until the sun is up and it is day light out.
Will your friends be at work mommy?
Mommy: Yes, Jackson my friends will also be at work
Jackson: O.K. Mommy have a good meeting

kindergarten disucssions

Today we were talking about kindergarten and the fact that there are different classrooms with different teachers. I asked both Shane and Jackson if they wanted to be in different class rooms next year. And I had a resounding NO. I want to be with my brother!!!.... This will be an interesting conversation to have in the coming months.....

Jackson- Sept. 2013 letter

Dear Jackson-
My Jack, where to start? I'm sorry I haven't written to you in a while, it has been pretty busy here. But mommy is now home for a long while with no travel plans and I am looking forward to spending all of my non-working time with you and your brother.

We had a great summer and a wonderful time on vacation, you swam almost every day and mommy and daddy had so much fun with you, we were in NH for two weeks! You are back at school now in the four day class and you seem to love school. In the morning you ask me "mommy what do we have today?" and when I say school you reply with a big grin and say yippee! You also have started back up with swimming and Karate. You have achieved your orange belt in Karate- congratulations. I watched your karate class last week and you kept turning around to look at me and give me a big grin and a thumbs up, which was wonderful for me but your instructor wants you to pay attention in class! Not look at mommy. You appear to be doing a great job in Karate and having fun.

You love to play dress up these days and this includes everything from a giraffe at Dalia's house to police officer at our house. With that you also love to draw and you are coming along nicely with your letters! Great Job with the letter J,  before you know it you will be writing the alphabet without any help at all. You still love to play independently with your superhero's or in a fortress that you made but you are also good at playing with Shane. Last night we built a fortress in the living room and you were very protective about who could enter and play in your fortress.

Keep up the good work Jackson and keep sending mommy snuggles. You have taken to coming into our bed at night and sometimes in the middle of the night you say to me- Hi Mommy, how are you? i want to share your pillow tonight. And other times you will randomly ask me if I have plans for the night? So talkative......

I love you Jackson Reid, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars. Carry on and be strong little guy.
I love you-
Love-
Mommy

Shane Sept. 2013

Dear Shane,
Mommy is very behind in her letters to you, it has been a busy summer! This will be the last letter I write to you as a four year old, you will be five years old next month, I can't believe that you will be 5!!!

You have grown a great deal over the summer and your little personality is shining through. You remain a happy little guy, always smiling and always up for a cuddle. But when you can't find your rainbow onsie- look out- you get very upset. We are working on the crying and "whining" as Jackson calls it.  You are becoming much more proficient in swimming and karate- you have your orange belt in karate and like to say Hi Yah at home. We should practice your karate moves at home but maybe in the coming weeks mommy will get more into that. You continue to love to draw and color, in fact every morning before breakfast you are usually coloring and our Wall of Fame Art Wall is very full with all of your art work.

You my good friend Shane are exactly that, a good friend. You and Jackson are as close as ever these days and you are always asking about your brother or can I have one for my brother Jackson? School is going well, you are in the 4 day class this year. You are the oldest children in the school and your classroom has a loft in it and you love going to school. Mommy finally met your buddy Coleman this weekend at the park and I was able to watch you play and interact with him and some other friends at the playground. You are a good player Shane and you are good at sharing.

I love you Shane Kilday! Stay strong and carry on my little friend, you are mommy's sun, moon and stars!
All my love-
Mommy

Misc. NH Vacation tales

We are having a great time up in NH. Yesterday we were at the beach- it was around 80 degrees and with the lake breeze maybe a tad cold for swimming in the lake but that didn't stop us. Shane and Jackson were swimming like little fish out there. They met a few new "friends" and the first thing that Shane asked was "Are you in the 4 day class? " I don't know you. The reference was to the 4 day class in school.

Daddy took the boys for some daddy time to FunSpot and boy did they have fun. When the boys arrived home they couldn't stop talking about all of the rides and games that they played, they both won (AKA Daddy won) them 2 paper like airplanes and they were very proud of those planes! Today we are meeting Uncle Larry and Aunt Michelle at Storyland for the day!

August 4, 2013 Letter to Jackson

Dear Jackson-
A few more months and you will be 5 years old! You are having a great summer full of activities and trips (and emotions). We visited your cousins during the 4th of July holiday and had a wonderful trip out there, full of adventure, swimming and visiting. Now we are up in NH for a whole two weeks worth of vacation! Week one flew by and now we are into our second week here at the lake and it is wonderful.

You and your brother (as you like to call Shane) are having a wonderful time up here. We have done lots of swimming at the lake and you my friend, are a little fish in the water! You just finished Penguin swimming lessons at the Boys and Girls Club and you are doing great in the water. You put your gogles on and off you go exploring under water. You and Shane like to play "Shark" and you get people and things. Daddy bought your boogey boards so you are loving that - paddling and jumping off the board. Nana and snowball also came on vacation with us so it is a full family affair up here in NH.

This month Jackson while you have been enjoying life to the fullest, you have also been a bit more emotional than usual. Maybe you are going through a growth spurt? You are a bit more emotional than usual with a fair amount of crying when you don't get your way and you have been very tired. You play hard all day and then boom you crash! In fact while we have been on vacation you have "fallen down" in fatigue on the front lawn yelling- I can't walk, I'm too tired! a little dramatic.....Some of that drama has played out down at the lake as well when you didn't want to carry your boogy board, Shane carried his happy as a clam but you put up a BIG Screaming display all the way back to the car.

Aside from your emotional outbursts here and there you are enjoying life up here at the lake. We have visited friends- Aunt Edna, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Allen, gone on boat rides, swimming, riding scooters when ever you want! and lots of  adventures- Clarke's Trading Post, Santa's Village, Story Land the list goes on and on.

I love you Jackson Reid. You are mommy's sun, moon and stars. Happy Auguust- stay smiling.
Love,
Mommy

Auguest 4, 2013 letter to Shane

Dear Shane-
Summer is more than half over and I think I can say that we are having a great summer! You have really enjoyed life these past few months and have been one happy little camper. The past few weeks you have been wonderful at listening and following directions and you have just been happy!

Last month we visited your cousins in Ohio for the 4th of July and we had a GREAT TIME! You loved seeing your Aunt and Uncle and playing with Katie, Abby and Zach and of course meeting Willow was great as well. You and Jackson LOVED playing with Zach's toys and building legos, playing race cars etc. We visited the Ohio Zoo (and got caught in the rain) and did all sorts of things. Your photo album will be full of pictures of that trip.

We are currently up in NH on vacation and you are really enjoying yourself. You have been sleeping "in" to about 6:30 am which is wonderful for mommy and we have been going to the beach and swimming a lot! You are turning into a little fish, you put on your goggles and off you go into the lake exploring for fish and other creatures under the water. Your swimming lessons are paying off as you can stay under water for a while and you do a mean doggy paddle! You seem very happy up here in NH. You can ride your scooters anytime you want and you are just HAPPY! always smiling and giving kisses (with an occasional mugga mugga mugga for mommy). I love seeing you this happy.

We have another beach day today and I'm sure you'll spend the entire day in the water and making friends like you do every day. Mommy will bring her camera to the beach to capture you in action. While you and your brother still have your occasional fights up here you are getting along beautifully here in NH and it is wonderful to see.

I love you my little Shane. You are mommy's sun, moon and stars.
Love,
Mommy

Summer time fun

With the heat index creeping up to 108 degrees here, it is hot! The boys have been going to "Camp" at the boys and girls club all week and then basically going to the pool in the afternoon. They have been TIRED at night. The other night, Jackson fell asleep on my lap- this is something he never does but mommy certainly welcomed it.

The boys went to build a bear with Auntie while we were in Ohio and made Rainbow bears. Well they sleep with the bears and tonight I asked Shane about his bear. Shane where did you get that bear?
S: I made Rainbow bear all by my self (With a big grin)
Who took you to the store: My special Auntie Kris took me.
Big Shout out to Auntie- thank you,  they love the bears!

Playing at the sprinkler park- July 15, 2013 it is HOT out- in the mid 90's. Shane dark blue, Jackson light blue- they look like they are having fun hugh?

We ventured to the MFA with the boys. We did O.K. Jackson touched a rope that he wasn't supposed to so the guards kept  a close eye on us. It was also Family Saturday so there were craft projects throughout the museum. Here are the boys making clay ships.
Shane with his Sketch book- creating "masterpieces" Jackson only did one drawing but Shane had a grande time drawing in the book.
New haircuts from Daddy- Shaved heads for the summer. Not mommy's cup of tea but it should keep them cool. Here are the boys playing train conductor and making  "tickets".
